Chicken Wings with an Asian Flare

There are as many ways to make wings as there are spices. I have a few favorites to share because they aren’t traditional but they are tasty. This one uses soy sauce. See Chicken Wings with an Italian Flare and Sweetly Hots Wings.

Serves 8-10
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 can frozen concentrated orange juice, thawed
  • ¼ cup cooking oil
  • 1cup sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 6 pounds chicken wings

    Instructions:

Place wings into a baking dish large enough for single layer.

In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, orange juice, oil, sugar, garlic and ginger. Heat just until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, pour over wings, toss to coat all wings with sauce, cover.

Bake covered for 45 minutes; uncover and continue to cook 15-20 more minutes or until wings are very tender and the sauce has thickened. If wings begin to dry out slowly add enough hot chicken broth or hot water to baking dish to cover bottom of dish.

    Cooking Wiser:

    Use low sodium soy sauce
    Reduce sugar to ½ cup
To save time make sauce in advance; it will keep in refrigerator for several days
