The weight of fame
They say that fame can be a heavy burden. Diving legend Stan Waterman found that out at a recent annual dive gathering where he was honored and presented with a one-ton+ granite bust of his head! Waterman confessed he was "rather undone in expressing my gratitude for this signal reach to immortality." Problem was that the trunk of his car wasn't quite up to the task. So for now it awaits its final destination in the studio of its talented sculptor creator in California. May we perhaps suggest one of Mr. Waterman's favorite underwater locations? -- Posted Thursday, April 12, 2007 by chb

Waterman's work helped gain a new understanding of sharks and other sealife, and it's all recalled in this rich, humorous collection of memories, vignettes, and articles Waterman had published in Ocean Realm magazine.
